How to claim a refund and compensation

NSB customers who experience more than 30 minutes delay are entitled to a refund of 50 % of the ticket price on most lines.

There are exceptions for Oslo-Bergen, Oslo-Kristiansand-Stavanger, Oslo-Trondheim and Trondheim-Bodø, where customers will be refunded 50 % of the ticket price in the event of delays of more than 60 minutes.

A) NSB season ticket:

If you are a season ticket holder (printed or electronic ticket), please use this form once the ticket has expired. If several claims for compensation relating to the same season ticket are made, these must be sent together to NSB on expiry of the ticket. Enter information about the sequence of events along with your customer and bank account numbers.

B) Ruter/Kolumbus season tickets:

Ruter AS customers who travel by NSB using season tickets must submit the ticket once it has expired. If you use an electronic travel card, you need to supply the E-card number on the back of the card. If several claims for compensation relating to the same season ticket are made, these must be sent together to NSB on expiry of the ticket. Enter information about the sequence of events along with your bank account number.

Customers of Kolumbus (Stavanger local service) need to send us a copy of the ticket, since we do not hold these in our systems.

C) Individual tickets:

If you have an individual ticket, you need to submit the original ticket along with your name, address and bank account number as described below.

Claims based on § 7 B and F, and § 8 A and B of NSB's Conditions of Carriage must be submitted in writing and without undue delay within 3 - three - months of the event, enclosing documentation.

  •  The claim must include an account of the sequence of events referred to.
  • Any claim for compensation will be paid within one month of NSB's receipt of the claim and necessary documentation thereof.
