From the fjords to the mountains - facts on the Rauma Railway
The Rauma Railway runs between Åndalsnes (4 metres above sea level) and Dombås (659 metres above sea level), stopping en route at Lesja, Lesjaverk and Bjorli.
Dombås is a charming inland mountain village at the point where eastern and northwestern Norway meet. From Dombås you can travel onward by train to Trondheim and Oslo.
Åndalsnes is beautifully situated on the shores of the Romsdal fjord beneath the Romsdal Alps. Besides being a centre for various activities and festivals, the town is an important transport hub with bus links to Molde, Ålesund, Trollstigen and Geiranger.
Spend a little time in Åndalsnes – visit the train chapel, go hiking in the mountains, paddle a canoe on the river, take a boat trip on the fjord, or go and marvel at the Trollstigen mountain road.
