Did you know..
NSB is one of Norway's most important transport companies, with traditions going back to the opening of the first railway in Norway in 1854.

Cycle in summer – sleigh in winter

Within Norway, you can take your bicycle with you on most trains. You will need to load it onto the train yourself and put it in the designated bicycle area. You must remove any luggage from your bicycle and leave it unlocked during the journey. Train personnel will be able to help you to embark and disembark, if required.

Trains on which you can reserve a space for a bicycle are marked with a bicycle symbol in the timetable. We recommend you buy your bicycle ticket when making your own ticket reservation. You can buy tickets for your bicycle from the NSB Call Centre on        +47 815 00 888 or from a manned station. If you are having difficulties getting through using this phone number, please use the following: +47 23 15 15 15.

Trains to Bergen and the Rallar Road

In summer, the Rallar Road, the old railway navvies' road, is teeming with cyclists, and a special bicycle train is in service.

On NSB Lokaltog (commuter) services and shorter journeys, bicycles can be carried when space permits. Space cannot be reserved on these services.

For journeys within Akershus County in Ruter tariff areas: cycles are not normally allowed, but staff may give permission if there is space; the adult tariff applies, max. 4 zones (coupon card may be used)

N.B. On some days and some departures, trains to Røros, Åndalsnes and on the Nordland line (Trondheim-Bodø) have very limited space for cycles.

Cycles on cross-border services

You can also take your bicycle with you to Gothenburg in Sweden on NSB Regiontog (inter-city) daytime services.

Rates for cycle carriage
The fare for cycles will be half the standard ticket price, up to a maximum of NOK 175, except on the Bergen Line in the summer season, from 18 May to 27 September, when there will be a fixed fare per cycle of NOK 175.

It is important to note that tickets for cycles will no longer be available from ticket machines. In future, they must be purchased from manned stations or from the NSB Call Centre on 815 00 888.

Within Akershus and Oslo, the same rates apply as for Ruter AS.

On trains on the Bodø-Rognan-Bodø service, cycles travel for free if space allows (reservation required).

Refunds

Cancellations made by the date printed on the ticket entitle you to a full refund, subject to a cancellation fee of NOK 40.
