Did you know..
NSB is one of Norway's most important transport companies, with traditions going back to the opening of the first railway in Norway in 1854.

How NSB works to be environmentally friendly

NSB is an environmentally friendly company. Here are our six promises to work for a better environment.

1. Renewable energy

90 percent of the energy we use comes from hydro-electricity or other renewable sources.

2. Save energy
We use energy efficiently and feed power back to the network where possible. We save energy by parking up trains. We turn off lights, we keep to our departure times, we regulate the temperature in trains and offices and we close doors to cold rooms.

3. Sorting at source

We sort at source in trains, offices and workshops/maintenance yards.

4. Eco-friendly purchasing
We are eco-friendly in all our purchases – trains, office supplies, packaging, services (we demand this of our suppliers).

5. Reduce consumption
We don’t waste paper – electronic timetables, fewer print-outs, considered acquisition of rolling stock, reduced use of chemicals.

6. We clean up
We clean polluted ground around workshops and diesel filling stations, we clear out.
